What is Livepeer?
For my final project I wanted to do something really fresh and special. Quite quickly I came up with an idea to make a YouTube video about a very interesting project named Livepeer.
I have found a good video about Livepeer in English on YouTube, but there were almost no videos in Russian, so I decided to take advantage of that and made my video fully in Russian, just to get the attention of people who don’t speak English.
Inside it I explain many things, beginning from the idea of creating the project. It all started with two software engineers that were into Ethereum. They saw the problem in 2017 that there was no decentralised video platform on Ethereum, so they decided to give it a try. Their mission has always been to create a world’s open video infrastructure.
Who needs Livepeer? Why do you need Livepeer? What is unique about it?
You can find all the answers to this questions just watching my short video.
It also contains information about the process of transcoding and translation of the video. Most importantly I mention how Livepeer helps in transcoding the video file and reduces it costs by 50 times. You can find the explanation of who orchestrators and delegators are and why they are so important for Livepeer. I did my best to help people understand how all these processes work, in simple words, so that everybody gets it.
Of course, when talking about decentralised video infrastructure I should mention Theta. I have compared its pros and cons against Livepeer and have also very shortly described my expectations from the projects in the future.
So if you understand Russian, go on and watch my video!
